Hello and Welcome

I’m Mckayla Cairns, a Lexington, Kentucky native and abstract artist.  Born and raised in Lexington, I attended Providence Montessori where I remember seeing my first abstract painting in 3rd grade, Piet Mondrian’s “Composition with Red, Blue and Yellow”.  My enduring love of abstract art was sparked.  

Throughout my life painting has been a constant.  I love experimenting with different color palettes and shapes -  layering until the canvas as a whole comes together.  I have always loved working with colors and patterns - even experiencing feelings and memories in color or associated with a color and design.  My paintings seek to celebrate the joy that color can bring into our lives.  I hope they bring joy to you also - thank you so much for visiting.
